I've been involved in many exhibitions and performances over the years from Lincoln, Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham, London to New York.
While enormously gratifying to show to people who are genuinely interested, respectful and who often/usually provide insights I'd previously been unaware of, I became increasingly disillusioned with the whole pretentious, exploitative and frankly white supremacist gallery process.
To have the ideas, invest in the materials, put in the time and support one's self during production.
~That's the job!
To then be expected to provide framing, transportation, insurance, publicity, etc., deal with that particular brand of mundane and tiresome intellectual superiority complex, be obsequious, pay extortionate commission fees and be grateful for it.
